Maccaferri has developed a prefilling solution for gabions and reno mattresses when in-situ filling is not possible, inconvenient, or uneconomical, such as for remote underwater applications. Typical units use stiffeners to resist deformation and include tested polyester round slings or lifting rebar to allow the filled units to be hoisted into position. A geotextile option is available, coupled with the wire mesh, to ensure fill containment. Prefilling saves stones and makes installation more effective, efficient, and safer.
