Topic:  Geotextile Filter Specification
Point of Discussion:  A specification on non-woven geotextile that NO standard product in the market is capable of meeting

Current specification on non-woven geotextiles used in filtration applications must have a tensile elongation of <30%.  But:

  1. Maximum value is not specified in the international geotextiles standards, only a minimum range of 15% to 50%

  2. Non-woven geotextile is to be with large elongation, a characteristic of production

  3. A geotextile with large elongation is considered beneficial in filtration application.  Large elongation is not expected in situations where soil is confined and well compacted.

Review or amendment to this particular specification is sought.
